Different Materials Used in Nose Hoops

One of the most important things to consider when shopping for a nose hoop is the material. Different materials have different benefits, so you'll want to pick one that suits your needs. Common materials for nose hoops include: Implant Grade Titanium, 316L Surgical (Stainless) Steel, 14KT Gold and 925 Sterling Silver. Titanium and Surgical Steel are hypoallergenic, durable and budget friendly. They are the best choice for those with sensitivities! Gold is a classic choice that's timelessly elegant. Sterling Silver is a lightweight and shiny option to add to your collection.

Different Types of Nose Hoops

When it comes to nose hoops, there are a few different types you can choose from! There are seamless/ bendable nose hoops. Gaining popularity are hinged hoops also known as clicker nose hoops that open and click shut securely! Finally there are half hoop nose rings that are open ended and can be worn to look like a full nose hoop or for an edgier look they can be worn opened ended!

Different Sizes of Nose Hoops

One of the most important things to consider when shopping for nose hoops is size. Nose hoops come in a variety of sizes, ranging from small (7mm) and subtle to large (10mm) and eye-catching. The size you choose will depend on how big or small you want your hoop to be and what kind of look you're going for. As well as, how far your nose piercing is from the edge of your nose.

Smaller nose hoops are great for creating a subtle look, while larger hoops are perfect if you want them to be more noticeable! It's important to measure your nose before purchasing a hoop so that you get one that fits comfortably. You can do this from home by taking a ruler and measuring the amount of space from your piercing to the edge of your nose.  However, to get the most accurate measurement for a nose hoop, it is always best to make an appointment with your piercer!

It is important to remember that sizing varies person to person and what may be small for one person may not work for another! The size of hoop you will need depends on where exactly you are pierced and the look you are going for! Here is a breakdown of the common sizes:

7mm (small)

8mm or 9mm (Medium- most common)

10mm+ (Large)

How to Choose the Right Nose Hoop for your Nose

When shopping for nose hoops, you want to start by deciding on a material. Ask yourself, do I have any metal allergies? Am I looking for a bright material? Am I looking for a nose hoop for every day wear? Do I need to do some more research into nose hoop materials?

Once you have decided on a material for your nose hoop, you will need to determine what size nose hoop you will need. There are two types of sizing you need to consider for your nose hoop. First is the gauge. Gauge refers to the thickness of the piercing. As the gauge (thickness) increases, gauge number associated with it decreases. For example, a 16 gauge piercing is thicker than a 20 gauge piercing. Typically a nose piercing is 20 gauge but this can vary so it is best to confirm the size you were pierced with or are going to be pierced with!

The second size you will need to determine is the inner diameter of the nose hoop. The inner diameter refers to the measurement of the inside of the hoop from one end to the other. It is essentially how big of a circle the hoop is, if that makes more sense!  You want your nose hoop to fit comfortably and in your nose, without being too tight or loose. Measure the area between your piercing and nostril before you start shopping so you can make sure you get the right size. Caring for your Nose Hoop

Once you’ve found the perfect nose hoop, you’ll want to make sure it stays in great condition. Depending on the material of your nose hoop, there are different tips you should follow when caring for it. For example, Surgical (stainless) steel nose hoops can be cleaned with a mild soap and water, saline solution or a combination of non-iodized sea salt and water. 14KT Gold and 925 Sterling Silver nose hoops need to be polished over time. Nose hoops with stones, such as our 316L Surgical Steel Pave White CZ Nose Hoop Hinged Clicker, should be handled with care to avoid damaging the stones. It’s always a good idea to do some research about the best way to maintain your particular type of nose hoop so that you can keep it looking its best!

Common FAQs About Nose Hoops

When it comes to nose hoops, there are a few common questions that come up and we're here to answer them for you!

1) Is it safe to wear a nose hoop?

Yes! When worn properly, nose hoops are totally safe. However, be sure your piercing is fully healed before putting in a new nose hoop!  Also, make sure the hoop is the right size for your piercing. If it's too big or too small, it may cause discomfort.

3) What are the most popular styles of nose hoops?

The most popular styles of nose hoopsare seamless rings (which have no closure),  hinged clickers (which open and close like a hinge), and half hoops that are open ended!

4) How do I put my nose hoop on?

How you put on your new nose hoop will all depend on which style of nose hoop you choose.

If it is a seamless nose hoop, you will find the small opening of the hoop and bend it away from yourself so that it is slightly opened. You will then insert one end into the front of your nose piercing. You then twist the nose hoop in until it comes out of the nostril and then you bend the hoop back to its original state and you're done!

If you have chosen a hinged clicker. You will open up the nose hoop at the hinge and you will put that portion of the nose hoop into your nose. Once it is in you can bring the other portion around your nose to meet it and click the ends together and you've done it!

Finally, a half hoop goes on quite similarly to a seamless hoop. You put the end without the stopper into the front of your nose and twist it until it sits how you'd like. Whether you choose to wear it with a full hoop look or open ended is totally up to you!

2) What's the best material for a nose hoop?

Implant Grade Titanium is the most hypoallergenic option as it is nickel free making it very unlikely to irritate your skin. 316L Surgical Steel is also considered hypoallergenic. Our other materials are still great just be sure to note that 14KT Gold and 925 Sterling Silver do contain nickel
(unless they are stated to be made nickel free) which can be irritating to some. And please note which of our styles contain brass if you know you are sensitive to that material.

Nose hoops are a fun way to express yourself and your style. With so many options to choose from, you can find the perfect nose hoop for you. When shopping for nose hoops, remember to consider the size, material, design of nose hoop that best suits your look!  Finally, make sure to take proper care of your nose hoop to ensure long lasting wear!
